Question 1

Is the Image Resizer & Cropper free to use?

Accepted Answer

Yes, 100% free with no account or registration required. All resizing, cropping, compression, and format conversions execute entirely client-side in your web browser.

Question 2

Are my uploaded photos or images uploaded to a server?

Accepted Answer

No. Your images are never uploaded or transmitted to any server. Everything is decoded, cropped, and encoded locally on your device using HTML5 Canvas and browser APIs.

Question 3

How does the "Resize by Target File Size in MB" mode work?

Accepted Answer

The tool automatically applies binary search algorithms to determine the optimal quality settings and, if needed, scales dimensions to produce an output file within or very close to your requested target size in decimal megabytes (1 MB = 1,000,000 bytes).

Question 4

Why can't PNG images always reach low target file sizes without resizing?

Accepted Answer

PNG uses lossless compression, meaning image quality cannot be varied like lossy JPEG or WebP formats. To reach smaller file sizes with PNG, the tool scales down the pixel dimensions.

Question 5

What image formats are supported?

Accepted Answer

You can upload JPEG, PNG, WebP, GIF (static frames), and BMP images. You can export your processed image to JPEG, PNG, or WebP.

Question 6

How does the interactive cropper work?

Accepted Answer

You can drag the crop box or use its 8 corner and edge handles to crop your photo to preset aspect ratios (such as 1:1 square, 16:9 widescreen, 4:3, or custom ratios) with live pixel dimension feedback.
